Philosophy
Over the course as a teacher, I have found that a student-focused classroom is the most effective teaching methodology for Composition. Through experience, I have found that teaching English demands certain ways of instruction. Unlike some disciplines in which a lecture type class session works just fine, an English instruction requires the instructor to be hands on with the material, using scaffold methods and daily interaction exercises that facilitate understanding. In serving my students effectively, I find great responsibility and commitment not only in building confidence and motivation in my students’ reading and writing skills but also in providing exciting material that is relevant to a diverse population, in creating a comfortable, tense-free environment where communication is constant, and in challenging towards higher-academic thinking.
